Enlightenment, Samadhi and the Gayatri Mantra
Namadeva - Thomas Ashley-Farrand
August 12 - 17, 2008
Program fee $90
Please note: This program begins on Tuesday evening rather than on Wednesday evening.
This retreat explores the fundamental nature of enlightenment, samadhi, and the Gayatri Mantra.
Is enlightenment literal? If it is, what is its nature? Can it be attained in this life? Or is it a metaphor - a catchphrase for peak experience?
What is Samadhi, a term popularized by the great yogi Patanjali through his Yoga Sutras? Is it a form of enlightenment? Is it a state of Love? What have very advanced beings said about enlightenment and the various types of samadhi?
Then there is the Gayatri Mantra, called by many scriptures a "master mantra" containing all the states of consciousness and all powers within it. What do the individual parts of the mantra mean? What is there significance to us in the here and now?
Through detailed instruction and explanation, meditation and experience, as well as other practices, Namadeva will bring insight into these questions and help you tap into internal resources that are your spiritual birthright and enable you to move in safely and expeditiously toward your great spiritual destiny.
